TAKEX_HMPD9000

CCD Scanning Hot Material Position Detector

  • The HMPD9000 Series uses CCD scanning to detect infrared radiation from hot rolled bars and wire rods.
  • It detects targets from 680°C and provides 0–10 VDC position output, dual NPN presence outputs, ≤10 ms response, and 800 or 400 mm field-of-view options at 1 m.
  • Brand TAKEX Takenaka Engineering Co., Ltd.
Features
  • Hot material position detection from 680°C: CCD scanning detects infrared radiation emitted from hot wire rods, steel bars, and other hot materials at temperatures of 680°C or higher.
  • Proportional analog position output: A 0–10 VDC analog signal is output in proportion to the hot material position within the field of view for integration with equipment control systems.
  • Two field-of-view options: HMPD9000 provides an 800 mm field of view at 1 m, while HMPD9001 provides a 400 mm field of view at 1 m for different detection-range requirements.
  • Response time of 10 ms or less: The two work-presence control outputs respond within 10 ms, supporting position and slack detection of moving rolled materials.
  • Water-cooled design for harsh environments: The sensor is rated IP66 and operates from -10 to +55°C under normal conditions or up to +80°C when water cooled.

Specification notes

  • The primary difference between HMPD9000 and HMPD9001 is field of view: 800 mm at 1 m for HMPD9000 and 400 mm at 1 m for HMPD9001. Their main detection, output, and environmental specifications are otherwise common.
  • Resolution is defined as 1/256 of the field of view, while the minimum detectable object diameter must be at least 2/256 of the field of view. Model selection should therefore consider both detection distance and required position resolution.
  • The power wiring of the dedicated PD801-H5 connector cable must not be extended. I/O wiring can be extended through a terminal block using shielded twisted-pair wire of at least 0.5 mm², up to 500 m.
FAQ

Q1: What is the HMPD9000 Series?
A: The HMPD9000 Series is a water-cooled hot material position detector that uses CCD scanning to detect infrared radiation emitted from hot wire rods, steel bars, and other hot materials.

Q2: Which models are available in the HMPD9000 Series?
A: The current lineup consists of HMPD9000 and HMPD9001. Both use a 24 VDC power supply and CCD scanning, with field of view as their main difference.

Q3: What is the minimum detectable hot-material temperature?
A: Both HMPD9000 and HMPD9001 detect hot materials at temperatures of 680°C or higher.

Q4: What is the difference between HMPD9000 and HMPD9001?
A: HMPD9000 provides an 800 mm field of view at 1 m, while HMPD9001 provides a 400 mm field of view at 1 m. Their other main specifications are common.

Q5: How does the HMPD9000 Series output hot-material position?
A: It provides a 0–10 VDC analog voltage proportional to the hot material position within the detection field, with an output impedance of 47 Ω.

Q6: Does the series provide material-presence outputs?
A: Yes. Two NPN open-collector control outputs are provided, rated for sink current up to 100 mA at 30 VDC or less.

Q7: What is the response time?
A: The two work-presence control outputs have a response time of 10 ms or less.

Q8: Can the HMPD9000 Series operate in high-temperature environments?
A: The normal ambient temperature range is -10 to +55°C. With water cooling, the sensor can operate at ambient temperatures up to +80°C. The protection rating is IP66.

Q9: Can the signal wiring be extended?
A: Yes. I/O wiring can be extended up to 500 m using shielded twisted-pair wire of at least 0.5 mm² through a terminal block. The power wiring of the dedicated connector cable must not be extended.

Q10: What applications is the HMPD9000 Series designed for?
A: It is designed for hot rolled steel bar and wire-rod position detection, especially slack detection, loop control, and roller-speed control in steel production lines.
