Q1: What is the HMPD9000 Series?
A: The HMPD9000 Series is a water-cooled hot material position detector that uses CCD scanning to detect infrared radiation emitted from hot wire rods, steel bars, and other hot materials.
Q2: Which models are available in the HMPD9000 Series?
A: The current lineup consists of HMPD9000 and HMPD9001. Both use a 24 VDC power supply and CCD scanning, with field of view as their main difference.
Q3: What is the minimum detectable hot-material temperature?
A: Both HMPD9000 and HMPD9001 detect hot materials at temperatures of 680°C or higher.
Q4: What is the difference between HMPD9000 and HMPD9001?
A: HMPD9000 provides an 800 mm field of view at 1 m, while HMPD9001 provides a 400 mm field of view at 1 m. Their other main specifications are common.
Q5: How does the HMPD9000 Series output hot-material position?
A: It provides a 0–10 VDC analog voltage proportional to the hot material position within the detection field, with an output impedance of 47 Ω.
Q6: Does the series provide material-presence outputs?
A: Yes. Two NPN open-collector control outputs are provided, rated for sink current up to 100 mA at 30 VDC or less.
Q7: What is the response time?
A: The two work-presence control outputs have a response time of 10 ms or less.
Q8: Can the HMPD9000 Series operate in high-temperature environments?
A: The normal ambient temperature range is -10 to +55°C. With water cooling, the sensor can operate at ambient temperatures up to +80°C. The protection rating is IP66.
Q9: Can the signal wiring be extended?
A: Yes. I/O wiring can be extended up to 500 m using shielded twisted-pair wire of at least 0.5 mm² through a terminal block. The power wiring of the dedicated connector cable must not be extended.
Q10: What applications is the HMPD9000 Series designed for?
A: It is designed for hot rolled steel bar and wire-rod position detection, especially slack detection, loop control, and roller-speed control in steel production lines.
