10 mm Pitch Individual-Axis Output Light Curtains

  • TAKEX SS10A Series light curtains feature a 10 mm beam pitch for object size, position, and shape detection.
  • Four models provide 16–96 axes, 150–950 mm detection widths, 3 m sensing, Φ17 mm minimum targets, serial individual-axis output, NPN general output, and IP66 protection.
  • Brand TAKEX Takenaka Engineering Co., Ltd.
Features
  • 10 mm high-density beam pitch: Models with 16 to 96 optical axes detect opaque objects Φ17 mm or larger for object size, passage position, and shape identification.
  • Individual-axis serial output: The received or blocked status of each beam is provided as serial data and can be converted to parallel outputs with the optional B-1304MA/SA boards.
  • General-purpose NPN output: In addition to individual-axis data, the sensor provides an NPN open-collector general output that turns ON when all beams are received.
  • Detection widths up to 950 mm: Four models provide 150, 310, 630, or 950 mm detection widths with a common 3 m sensing distance.
  • Mutual interference prevention: Master/slave synchronization allows two sensor pairs to be mounted next to each other for applications such as carton dimension measurement.

Specification notes

  • Individual-axis output from the sensor itself is serial data. Use the B-1304MA/SA conversion boards when separate parallel outputs are required for each of the 16–96 optical axes.
  • More than 64 optical axes require B-1304SA. For SS10A-T96-CH parallel output, B-1304MA and B-1304SA are combined to support all 96 axes.
  • Master/slave configuration is required for mutual interference prevention, allowing up to two sensor pairs to be installed adjacent to each other.
FAQ

Q1: What is the TAKEX SS10A Series?
A: The SS10A Series consists of 10 mm pitch through-beam light curtains that provide individual beam status for object size, position, and shape detection.

Q2: What models are available?
A: The lineup includes SS10A-T16-CH, SS10A-T32-CH, SS10A-T64-CH, and SS10A-T96-CH.

Q3: What is the detecting distance?
A: All four models provide a detecting distance of 3 m.

Q4: What is the beam interval?
A: The beam interval is 10 mm throughout the series, with a minimum detectable opaque object of Φ17 mm.

Q5: What is the maximum detection width?
A: SS10A-T96-CH has 96 optical axes and provides the maximum detection width of 950 mm.

Q6: Can the status of each optical axis be obtained separately?
A: Yes. The sensor outputs individual-axis status as serial data. Optional B-1304MA/SA boards convert it to separate parallel outputs.

Q7: How does the general-purpose output operate?
A: The NPN open-collector general output turns ON when all optical axes receive light and changes state when one or more beams are blocked.

Q8: What are the response times?
A: Individual-axis serial output responds within 40 ms, within 45 ms with B-1304MA/SA, while the general output responds within 25 ms.

Q9: Can two SS10A sensor pairs be mounted next to each other?
A: Yes. Master/slave mutual interference prevention allows up to two sensor pairs to be installed adjacent to each other.

Q10: What applications are suitable for the SS10A Series?
A: Applications include carton dimension measurement in logistics and object size, position, or shape identification in automotive and parts-handling equipment.
