A: The FD600A Series is a fiber-type hot metal detector for medium/high-temperature applications. It detects infrared energy radiated from heated steel and other hot materials for non-contact presence, passage, and position detection.
Q2: Which models are available in the FD600A Series?
A: The current lineup consists of FD600A, FD600AH, and FD600AC. Their main differences are control output type and response time.
Q3: What is the minimum hot-metal temperature the FD600A Series can detect?
A: With the basic configuration, both FG2 2 m and FG3 3 m fibers support target temperatures of 580°C or higher. Longer fibers may require higher target temperatures.
Q4: What is the detecting distance of the FD600A Series?
A: The detecting distance is 0.50 m with a detecting object diameter of Φ28 mm.
Q5: What are the differences among FD600A, FD600AH, and FD600AC?
A: FD600A uses a mini power relay output, FD600AH a signal relay output, and FD600AC a solid-state output. Their maximum response times are 15 ms, 5 ms, and 3 ms respectively.
Q6: How can received light conditions be checked?
A: A 5-level indicator shows received light intensity, allowing detection margin and optical alignment to be checked directly.
Q7: What does the self-check function do?
A: Operation can be checked by an external signal, and an alarm is generated when lens contamination, optical-axis misalignment, disturbing light, or residual heat reduces detection margin.
Q8: What detection fields of view are available?
A: The standard field of view is Φ50 mm/m. Wide-view options of 200 × 40 mm/m and 400 × 30 mm/m are also available.
Q9: Does the FD600A optical head require cooling?
A: The optical head and fiber do not require additional cooling when the ambient temperature is +200°C or lower. The amplifier operates from -25 to +50°C.

A: It is suitable for presence, passage, and position detection of medium- and high-temperature materials in steel mills and heavy-industry production lines, including red-hot steel detection.
