TAKEX_SSP-S200

13 mm Slim Dual-Mode Bin-Picking Sensors

  • TAKEX SSP-S200 Series 13 mm slim bin-picking sensors switch between retroreflective and diffuse reflective sensing.
  • Four models offer 100 or 225 mm sensing widths, up to 2 m retroreflective range, selectable NPN/PNP and NO/NC operation, JOB/FAULT indicators, and automatic sensitivity setup.
  • Brand TAKEX Takenaka Engineering Co., Ltd.
Features
  • Switchable retroreflective and diffuse reflective sensing: An internal selector allows the sensing method to be changed according to the required range, with retroreflective operation for longer distances and diffuse reflective operation without an opposing reflector.
  • 13 mm rugged slim metal housing: The aluminum case is only 13 mm thick, reducing obstruction in parts bins while helping protect the sensor from contact with parts during picking.
  • Selectable NPN/PNP output: NPN or PNP control output can be selected with an internal switch, reducing the need to stock separate output models.
  • Large JOB and FAULT indicators: Two high-intensity green JOB indicators identify the correct picking location, while the red FAULT indicator flashes to warn of an incorrect picking action.
  • Automatic sensitivity initialization: After the sensing method is selected and power is applied, the sensor automatically initializes an appropriate sensitivity and also provides automatic re-initialization.

Specification notes

  • Select retroreflective or diffuse reflective operation according to the required distance. Retroreflective sensing reaches up to 2 m, while diffuse reflective range varies with target reflectivity.
  • NPN/PNP and normally open/normally closed operation are selectable on the sensor, so the four models are primarily differentiated by 100/225 mm sensing width and attached-cable/M12-pigtail connection.
  • The retroreflective distance indicates the allowable reflector setting range. A target can still be detected close to the sensor when it interrupts the effective optical path; reflectors and mounting brackets are optional.
FAQ

Q1: What is the TAKEX SSP-S200 Series?
A: The SSP-S200 Series consists of slim bin-picking sensors that can switch between retroreflective and diffuse reflective sensing.

Q2: What models are available?
A: The current lineup includes SSP-S204R, SSP-S208R, SSP-S204R-PJ, and SSP-S208R-PJ.

Q3: What is the retroreflective sensing range?
A: Retroreflective operation reaches up to 2 m, with the series lineup specifying a reflector setting range of 700–2,000 mm.

Q4: What is the diffuse reflective sensing range?
A: The range is 700 mm with 300 × 300 mm white drawing paper and 400 mm with an A4 18% reflectivity gray card.

Q5: What is the difference between SSP-S204R and SSP-S208R?
A: SSP-S204R has four optical axes and a 100 mm detecting width, while SSP-S208R has eight axes and a 225 mm detecting width.

Q6: What does the -PJ suffix mean?
A: -PJ models use a 0.3 m pigtail with an M12 connector, while standard models have a 2 m attached cable.

Q7: Are separate NPN and PNP models required?
A: No. NPN or PNP output is selectable by an internal switch, and normally open or normally closed operation is also selectable.

Q8: What are the JOB and FAULT indicators used for?
A: The large green JOB indicators identify the correct picking location, while the red FAULT indicator flashes to warn of an incorrect picking action.

Q9: Does SSP-S200 require manual sensitivity adjustment?
A: After the sensing method is selected and power is applied, the sensor performs automatic sensitivity initialization and also supports automatic re-initialization.

Q10: What applications are suitable for the SSP-S200 Series?
A: It is suited to parts racks, assembly lines, logistics picking, and pick-to-light systems for guiding operators and confirming correct parts selection.
