TAKEX_JS2

Coupling Type Light Curtain Sensors

  • TAKEX JS2 Series coupling type light curtains provide 5 m sensing with 20 or 40 mm beam intervals.
  • Modular main, expansion, corner, flexible, and blank units support detection widths up to 1,900 mm, NPN/PNP dual outputs, self-check, anti-interference, and IP65 protection.
  • Brand TAKEX Takenaka Engineering Co., Ltd.
Features
  • Detection widths up to 1,900 mm: 20 mm beam-interval units can be expanded to 96 optical axes and a 1,900 mm detection width, while 40 mm units support up to 48 axes and 1,880 mm.
  • Flexible 20 and 40 mm combinations: Different beam intervals can be combined with blank units to configure the sensing area according to target size and machine layout.
  • L- and U-shaped configurations: JS2-V corner units and JS2-F flexible units allow the detection area to turn corners around large machines.
  • Self-check with dual outputs: Main units include the SCF self-check function and two parallel control outputs to reduce the effect of a single output fault.
  • Anti-interference with IP65 protection: Master/slave synchronization helps prevent interference between two sensor sets, while IP65 construction supports industrial installations.

Specification notes

  • Minimum target size depends on beam interval: The 20 mm type detects opaque objects Φ30 mm or larger, while the 40 mm type detects objects Φ50 mm or larger.
  • Main units provide two control outputs. AND connection of Output 1 and Output 2 is recommended; insulate any unused output lead when only one output is used.
  • Use a JS-U reinforcing case when connecting more than eight units to help prevent bending and twisting in long assembled light curtains.
FAQ

Q1: What is the TAKEX JS2 Series?
A: The JS2 Series consists of modular through-beam light curtain sensors that can be coupled to create wide and shaped detection areas.

Q2: What is the detecting distance?
A: The JS2 Series provides a detecting distance of 5 m.

Q3: What is the maximum detection width?
A: The 20 mm type supports up to 96 optical axes and 1,900 mm, while the 40 mm type supports up to 48 axes and 1,880 mm.

Q4: What beam intervals are available?
A: The system supports 20 mm and 40 mm beam intervals, which can be combined according to the installation.

Q5: What is the minimum detectable object size?
A: The 20 mm type detects opaque objects Φ30 mm or larger, while the 40 mm type detects Φ50 mm or larger.

Q6: Are NPN and PNP outputs available?
A: Yes. JS2-T2M and JS2-T4M provide NPN outputs, while JS2-T2MPN and JS2-T4MPN provide PNP outputs. Main units have two open-collector outputs.

Q7: What does the SCF function do?
A: SCF is the self-check function. If a monitored fault causes the FAIL indicator to turn on, the control output switches OFF.

Q8: Can JS2 create L- or U-shaped sensing areas?
A: Yes. JS2-V corner units and JS2-F flexible units allow L-shaped, U-shaped, and other angled configurations.

Q9: Does the JS2 Series support anti-interference?
A: Yes. Master/slave synchronization can be used to reduce interference between two sensor sets.

Q10: What applications are suitable for the JS2 Series?
A: It is suited to machines requiring wide or non-linear detection areas, including entry detection around processing equipment and large automation systems.
