A: The SSX20 Series consists of 12 mm ultra-thin through-beam light curtains with selectable parallel and cross-beam sensing modes.
Q2: What models are available?
A: Eight models are available: SSX20-T160, T240, T320, T400, T480, T560, T640, and T720, covering 160–720 mm detection widths.
Q3: What is the detecting distance?
A: Parallel-beam mode operates from 0 to 4 m, while cross-beam mode operates from 0.5 to 4 m.
Q4: What is the minimum detectable object?
A: Parallel mode detects opaque objects Φ25 mm or larger. Cross-beam mode detects objects down to Φ15 mm within the specified effective area.
Q5: What is the beam interval?
A: All SSX20 models use a 20 mm optical-axis interval.
Q6: Are separate NPN and PNP models required?
A: No. The same SSX20 sensor can be wired for either NPN or PNP open-collector output.
Q7: What is the difference between parallel and cross-beam modes?
A: Parallel mode provides faster response and supports anti-interference, while cross-beam mode improves detection between optical axes for smaller or randomly oriented objects.
Q8: Can two SSX20 sensors be stacked together?
A: Yes. In parallel-beam mode, two sensors can be mounted directly together while maintaining a 20 mm beam pitch, creating a detection area up to 1,440 mm.
Q9: What is the protection rating?
A: The SSX20 Series is rated IP65 and uses an aluminum case with die-cast zinc mounting sections.
Q10: What applications are suitable for the SSX20 Series?
A: Applications include randomly oriented moving or falling workpieces in metal processing and leading-edge detection of objects with different heights and shapes in conveyor systems.
