Q1: What is the NT100(P) Series?
A: The NT100(P) Series consists of long-range through-beam cold metal detectors for presence and passage detection of steel and other materials in heavy-industry equipment.
Q2: Which models are available in the NT100(P) Series?
A: The current lineup includes NT100 and NT100P. Both provide a 100 m detecting distance, with power supply, output type, and response time as their primary differences.
Q3: What is the maximum detecting distance?
A: Both NT100 and NT100P provide a detecting distance of 100 m.
Q4: What is the minimum detectable object size?
A: Both models detect objects with a diameter of Φ28 mm or larger.
Q5: What is the difference between NT100 and NT100P?
A: NT100 operates on 12–24 VDC with NPN open-collector output and a 5 ms maximum response time. NT100P operates on 100–240 VAC with relay output and a 20 ms maximum response time.
Q6: Can Light-ON and Dark-ON operation be selected?
A: Yes. Both models allow Light-ON or Dark-ON operation to be selected using a switch inside the receiver.
Q7: How can optical alignment be checked over 100 m?
A: The receiver provides three-level received-light indication to help verify optical alignment and detection margin. The optional CLR3 checker can also assist with alignment.
Q8: Does the transmitter monitor its light emission?
A: Yes. The transmitter incorporates an emission-monitoring circuit and provides a monitor output if light emission stops because of a malfunction.
Q9: What are the ambient temperature and protection rating?
A: The operating ambient temperature is -25 to +55°C, and the sensor is rated IP66 with a rugged zinc die-cast housing.
Q10: What applications is the NT100(P) Series suitable for?
A: It is suitable for long-distance presence, passage, and arrival detection of steel in steel mills and heavy-industry production lines where the transmitter and receiver must be installed far apart.
