FAQ
Q1: What is the NT50(P) Series?
A: The NT50(P) Series consists of long-range through-beam cold metal detectors for presence and passage detection of steel and other materials in heavy-industry equipment.
Q2: Which models are available in the NT50(P) Series?
A: The current lineup includes NT50 and NT50P. Both provide a 50 m detecting distance, with power supply, control output, and response time as their primary differences.
Q3: What is the maximum detecting distance?
A: Both NT50 and NT50P provide a detecting distance of 50 m.
Q4: What is the minimum detectable object size?
A: Both models detect objects with a diameter of Φ22 mm or larger.
Q5: What is the difference between NT50 and NT50P?
A: NT50 operates on 12–24 VDC with NPN open-collector output and a 5 ms maximum response time. NT50P operates on 100–240 VAC with relay output and a 20 ms maximum response time.
Q6: Can Light-ON and Dark-ON operation be selected?
A: Yes. Both models allow Light-ON or Dark-ON operation to be selected using a switch inside the receiver.
Q7: Does NT50 provide a detection-margin alarm?
A: Yes. NT50 provides an independent NPN alarm output when received light falls below the Level 1 reference.
Q8: How can long-range optical alignment be checked?
A: The receiver provides three-level received-light indication for checking received-light margin, and the optional CLR3 checker can assist in finding the center of the transmitted beam.
Q9: What are the ambient temperature and protection rating?
A: The operating ambient temperature is -25 to +55°C, and both models are rated IP66 with a rugged zinc die-cast housing.
Q10: What applications is the NT50(P) Series suitable for?
A: It is suitable for long-distance presence, passage, and arrival detection of steel in steel mills and heavy-industry production lines requiring approximately 50 m transmitter-to-receiver spacing.
